About Mobile Suit Gundam UC: One of Seventy Two

On December 3, U.C. 0095, the Earth Federation Forces and Anaheim Electronics was conducting a joint test between two Unicorn Gundams: Anaheim's RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee and the EFF's RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex. The test was observed by three people: Martha Vist Carbine and two Federation advisers.

One of the advisers expressed disdain at the "unicorn and lion" naming scheme of Anaheim's Unicorn Gundams, saying that they brought their own interests into a military prototype, and expressed confidence that by defeating the Banshee during this evaluation, the situation will change.

The test was in the form of live combat: Federation intelligence had learned of a Neo Zeon fleet approaching the sector, and whichever unit shoots down the most Neo Zeon mobile suits wins. The Federation advisers were confident in the Phenex's victory, since it was piloted by a Cyber Newtype.

Both units launched and engaged in combat with the Neo Zeon mobile suits, including the AMX-107R Rebawoo. When the Banshee attempted to attack the Rebawoo, it separated into two and began emitting psycho-frame readings, causing Banshee's NT-D System to activate. One of the Federation advisers ordered the deactivation of Phenex's limiters in order to not fall behind the Banshee, which was now in Destroy Mode, despite the other adviser objecting that doing so might cause a resonance phenomenon.
