Orbiting above the Earth is a space colony. Five Zaku IIs approach the colony and enter it. They land in a residential area with one holding up its shield. A boy waves at one of the Zakus and it waves back. Above one Zaku has already damaged a building with one of its two Heat Hawks.

Elsewhere in the colony, the Gundam switches on and Kamaria Ray approaches its head as its glowing red eyes activate. She turns around and sees her son, Amuro Ray. Amuro runs away but the Gundam follows him. Kamaria's voice emanates from the Gundam as it reveals its empty cockpit.

Civilians in the colony watch the Zaku IIs pass by while Amuro gets into the cockpit. He fires the vulcans in panic and the Zakus return fire. One Zaku II gets close but he blocks the barrel with his left hand a rips off the Zaku's mouth with the other.

Later, Char Aznable approaches the colony in his custom Zaku II, seeing the White Base and and Gundam nearby. He hopes to be shown what the Earth Federation mobile suit can do. Amuro approaches, stating that Zaku are not human. He engages the scope but Char dodges, dealing a direct hit afterwards. While Amuro is in shock, Char is amazed that the Gundam is still functioning. Amuro fires more shots from his beam rifle but continues to miss. Char returns fire with a machine gun but the Gundam protects itself with the shield. Eventually, the Zaku and Gundam are head to head. Amuro fires the vulcans but Zaku kicks the Gundam in the abdomen.
