Six years after the events of Gundam Breaker 3, a new version of the Gunpla Battle simulator has been developed, titled "Gunpla Battle Blaze: Beyond Borders" ("GBBBB" or simply "GB4" for short). Allowing players to enjoy the Gunpla Battle simulator from the comfort of their own homes, the game has evolved to being a massively multiplayer online social network, where players can use Gunpla to connect with others. The game is managed by a newly-developed artificial intelligence core called "Aura" that utilizes machine learning to improve the game from within.

The protagonist enters GB4 as a new player entering the game's beta test for the first time. They soon meet Tao, an SD Gundam enthusiast who decides to show them the ropes, and Lin, a feisty young woman eager to prove her skills. The three decide to form a Clan, an in-game cooperative needed to participate in events. Tao and the player wind up running into another player with a very similar appearance to Lin; believing her name is "Lilin", Tao recruits her to the Clan. They also meet another player using the avatar of Mr. Gunpla, referring to himself as "Mister", who provides guidance and coaching to the group.

Tao and the player soon decide to participate in a Clan Battle, a player-versus-player event where Clans of similar skill level duel against each other. However, they unexpectedly encounter the Clan "Freedom Fleet", a top-ranking Clan lead by the enigmatic Chaos, who fights the duo despite their vastly different skill levels. Overwhelmed by Chaos's assault, the player discovers that they are capable of Awakening and push back Chaos with their newfound strength. Chaos, intrigued by the player's capabilities, accepts defeat and retreats.

Tao enters the team into a Clan tournament, a large-scale PVP event. To prepare for the event, the team recruits Sheena, a wealthy Japanese girl burdened by duty to her family, and Mashima, a seemingly easygoing pilot and womanizer. During the tournament, Tao, Sheena, and Mashima come face to face with personal burdens; Tao faces school bully Serito and learns to stand up for himself, Sheena learns to take her destiny in her own hands, and Mashima faces his ex-teammat
